*teal and orange wednesdays

4/08/2010

You know, it really drives me up a wall when I see an item of clothing and they no longer have my size! Grrrr! These jeans are in one of my fav colors and on sale, but there's only a size 26 left! I considered just buying it and either trying to squeeze into them....or working out like there is no tomorrow so I will be a size 26. Then I thought about being a size 26, which I was once before, and let's just say I looked like a balloon with a long string! Soooo...we don't want to go back there. Anyway, they made it to my T.O. Wednesday this week because I just adore them! I WILL find them in my size...I will, I will, I will. Enjoy!

brian reyes

3/08/2010

So, after I posted this...my friend T.K. sent me an email with the Brian Reyes' website, and of course I had to agree with the subject of her email "I wish I was rich". I'm not supposed to be shopping at all, but I've been eyeing denim (like I need anymore), and I stumbled on the pants above....then I took my shopaholic self a bit further to see what else was on sale by this designer....and I was in heaven! I love the piping in the pants that make them different from the norm! Annndd those shorts call my name on many levels. The pattern, the color, the "wrap" detail....loves it all! 156 bucks though? Do I really want to do that??? Maybe I'll watch them a bit more then decide! Hehe!

*First, you need to check out his site and see the beautifully constructed clothing!
*Then....go here and see the sale and more ready-to-wear items!

you are correct…

...I would exercise like there is no tomorrow, if I was going to be decked out in these!!! I have loved Stella McCartney from the day she started designing for Chloë (remember the horse prints???)...then she started her own line which I just adore!! Now, for a few years she has been designing for Adidas....and I want all of it! I don't even play tennis and that dress with the pleats is calling my name. As for the top with the cut-outs??? I'd rock that with a blazer and call it a day! Enjoy! Have a super-dooper weekend!

Stella McCartney for Adidas available here.

adventures of a travel bug

29/07/2010

As you know for the next few months...I will be exploring New York as much as possible, as I haven't really done too much in this city that never sleeps. This exploration will consist of going places that people always tell me to go to (but due to my job....I never do), as well as doing the "touristy" things, so I can learn more about the city I have lived in for almost 5 years! So this weekend is where it all began!

So, my ultra cool points definitely went up this weekend (Yes...I am allowed to give myself cool points). On Sunday, I had the chance to go and see two football matches for the Barclays New York Challenge!!! Every year, the Premier League teams travel around the world, to play friendly matches before the league starts in August! Unfortunately for me, Chelsea only played in Europe (last year, those suckers were in DC)! But...when I found out 2 other teams were going to play right here...I hopped online and searched for tickets! At one point, the plan was put on hold as my football partner in crime/the wise one aka C.S. ....told me Manchester United was going to be playing in Philly. Sadly this plan was trumped because they played on a darn Wednesday, which wasn't conducive to a full-time job, and a 2 year old. So we settled for the Tottenham Hotspurs vs. Sporting Lisbon, and Manchester City vs. New York Red Bulls. Read the rest of this article »

Paint me a picture!

26/07/2010

So, I was kinda cursed out about not mentioning my new found friend in the creative world, in my most recent travel bug blog post! Womp! Well, I really had a little trick up my sleeve because I happen to think this person is uber talented...so a tiny mention wouldn't really do him justice. So this is how the story goes...

On the way to seeing a World Cup match, SLJ, Boogie B, and AMO pick up this person I've never seen in my life. He hops in the car immediately talking about how broken his heart is over the Brazil loss! And of course I told him there is no point in crying, because Brazil wasn't going to make it to the World Cup final anyway! And then the war began!!! He's Brazil, I'm Argentina. He's Manchester United, I'm Chelsea. He's Lakers, I'm Celtics. The battle went on and on! But then there was a defining moment....he told me he painted...I told him I designed. And it was like oh you're an artist? Yea I'm an artist! And then we were good to go, until I realized oil was his medium of choice! Despite my failed attempts at getting back into painting....I am still a watercolor painter! Soooo...the battle continued!

This young chap's name is Kai Watson. He is related to some very famous Jamaican artists, but seeing that this is his time to shine on my blog, we won't get into that! I will say, however, when I told my mom that I met him, I got the whole family history! So I guess with such an artistic family, it's no surprise that this guy is talented. I won't even lie, people have pulled the artist card with me before, and then I see their work...and I am no where near impressed! As soon as I saw Kai's paintings, I think my eyes turned green with envy! haha! The reason is this. I admire anyone that can paint with oil...it's really not the easiest medium on the planet! I personally hate it because it takes forever to dry, and so all my oil painting attempts turned to mud on a canvas. Not exactly attractive. But honestly, I think this takes serious skill...especially when it involves painting people. Read the rest of this article »

ooohhh ginger snap!

22/07/2010

I'm a big nerd, so when I hear about something like changing my handwriting to a font....I automatically get super psyched! There's just one snafu with this! My handwriting is kinda a mess at times! It's bad enough that the people in my life can't read it, but it's even worse when I myself can't read it a few days after actually writing it! Even my nephew at 7 years old, had the audacity to tell me I have horrible penmanship! And yes, he used the word penmanship!

Sooooo how ever will this work for me???? I guess I will be printing more than one copy of the sheet provided on the site....just so I get everything to be neat and tidy! OR...I can just let the world try figure out what it is exactly that I have typed! Enjoy!

To turn your handwriting into a font....click here. And when you watch the video....you tell me if you think "Gloria's" handwriting is just a bit too perfect!

Now that it’s over….

15/07/2010

I remember so clearly the World Cup Final, and seeing Spain score in the last few minutes of extra time...which pretty much brought the game to an end. I was so upset I walked home...it was about 20 blocks! Poor me. I've become so engrossed in this sport, that I really can't take it...I was even ready to walk out mid-match, because sitting on the edge of my seat became uncomfy! I was thinking maybe I should quit following the sport, but before I knew it I was changing my favorite site from Fifa, to Barclays Premier League! I'm a mess! Read the rest of this article »
