Trapeze? Or Maternity Clothes?

trapeze

I won't lie to you, I did fall for this trend. Especially around spring time when all the great colors came out and the clothes called my name from the store windows. I don't know why I fell for such a trend...maybe because I started eating more like my aL, and this pretty much covered up any love handles that started to appear. But recently, I have really taken a look in my closet, and realized every dress I have in this style has to go! Why?

Have you ever taken a look, and realized that regular sized women wear almost everything over-sized, but pregnant women wear fitted clothing??? Something isn't right about that. When did the switch happen? I go and try on some of these dresses now, and personally I feel like an oompa loompa. Not only that, I know some people have given up their seat on the train because they think a lady is pregnant, when really, she is just wearing a trapeze dress. It doesn't give any shape to the body, everyone looks like a big box with two sticks at the bottom, and personally, kids aren't in my plan right now...so the maternity....oops sorry...I mean trapeze style clothing can go. Not to mention I have been looking for another good wool coat...and everything I've seen so far, will fit me plus 3. It's not attractive.

So unless you are a celebrity trying to hide your bump from the paparazzi, let's just leave the trapeze where it belongs. At the circus.

What replaces this trend?? The shift dress/empire waist dress. If you have trapeze dresses you don't want to give up...just add a cool belt!

i agree.....my boyfriend hates these!!! i think all men secretly do....why hide the curves when u can show them! i have big hips and small boobs so this look was never really me....the belt is essential...i need to accentuate my waist :)

Well for me Miss Comfy Queen, those dresses are perfect for those hot days or those days that you just not in the mood for anything to show your "imperfections". Just wanna be comfy and still colourful. They're really for the daytime though "summer dresses" ... its summer year round here so... but on the flipside ensure you have your "Freakum Dress" for the night ;)

I think tobes just described my body type. These dresses actually look hideous on me. I'm all for accentuating my waist too so belts do help but only a little because then the bottom of these dresses poof out in a very unflattering way. So Alia, let's empty out our wardrobes!
