Things that make me happy….

26/01/2010

On one of my new fav. blogs,  (hello lovely things) was tagged by another blog, to create a happy list. I thought it was really cool, and even though I didn't get tagged, I decided to create one, esp. since it would be a great thing to begin my birthday week! So here are 10 things that make me happy.

happylist

1. My parents—These two have always been the source of my happiness—I still curl up next to them in their bed like I'm not about to turn 29. But I am really grateful to have two parents who have always supported me when it came to following my dreams. I guess all they want is for me to be happy.

2. My siblings—I was blessed with an older sister and brother, and yea I got beat up, had to hand over the tv remote when they wanted to watch, or move to the back seat of the car when they were picked up, but my life would be empty without them. I really don't want to imagine what it would be like being an only child...cause these guys made my 29 years so enjoyable (despite the occasional disagreements).

3. Jamaica—We all know I left my heart there when I moved to New York....I just feel so happy and complete when I'm there...no word can really explain it.

4. The Post Office—Yes, I know it's a weird thing to make someone happy, but new technology sometimes isn't for me. I get a great feeling going to the post office, putting that stamp on the envelope that holds that special something to brighten someone's day.

5. Pancakes—Everyone that visits me usually gets pancakes with strawberries. I could eat these everyday if there was no such thing as weight gain. And now I have come up with my own little creative recipes. I just need someone willing to experiment with me. Yummmmmmm!!! (image from smitten kitchen)

6. My girls—I learned that the men in my life will come and go...but my girls will always have my back. They know who they are and they know my life would be one big hot mess without them. (illustration by Rachel Wade)

7. Bear hugs—This all started when I was a child, and I would run to my dad's arms when he came home. I still get them everytime I see him, and even over the phone...with a Grrrr! attached to it! Bear hugs always make me feel safe and truly loved.

8. My nephew—The day this rascal was born, my life completely changed and I felt a love for someone that I never felt before. And just seeing his face and how he has grown, makes me feel so fulfilled.

9. Christmas—Spending time with my family and friends, giving presents, decorating the Christmas Tree, Carols on the iPod, lights all around, and cool breezes or snow flurries....all equal warmth in my heart!

10. Bags—I don't think a word can express how creating makes me feel. The first day I made a bag, that was it for me, and now my passion continues to grow each day. Everytime I put those iPod headphones on, plug in my sewing machine, and start cutting fabric, I get an awesome feeling of excitement. Then when my product is finished, I stare at it, then try to figure out how I'm going to let it go (enter sad face here).

My list could go on...but I would say these are the top 10 things. If I was having a bad day...one of them would definitely make it brighter. Enjoy!
