...and I wish someone would pick me up, and take me far far away in this dress!

I am probably one of the hardest people to shop for. I always receive those calls asking "what do you want" and usually the response is, I don't know. The sad part about this is, I also have a hard time shopping for myself. This is a perfect example of when being creative backfires, as an artist usually looks for the things that are different from the norm. If the average Joe goes for one thing, I will more than likely go for the other, and with so many companies making imitations, being different and shopping has become a lot harder. Shop Bop has to be one of my favorite stores now, even though I can't afford half the things. That's ok though, I can still look. One thing I love on this site is their variety of dresses. Dresses are easy things to wear because you usually just have to get your shoes and be out the door! For me when I'm choosing a dress, the back of it is pretty important. I can't tell you the amount of times I have seen a dress I love, and when I see the back, I'm completely disappointed. Sometimes when not too much attention has been put on the back, it makes a dress look even cheaper than it really is. So while on Shop Bop I found some dresses that are so simple at the front, and the backs are quite a wonderful surprise. Read the rest of this article »
I haven't written on my blog for probably a month or so...right??? Maybe longer. I have been attacked recently by some people too...but I honestly just needed some time to get myself together, and truly be once again inspired to write about all the things I love and spend too much money on:)
And one thing I would spend my money on... two Hervé Léger dresses (because with all these pictures...obviously I can't choose one)! Read the rest of this article »
I love love love love love patterns. Before I was a plain jane, but now I'm a print fanatic (like it isn't obvious already)!! This spring I've been seeing quite a few patterns on everything from clothes, to soles of shoes....even on jewelry. It's quite amazing and I'm going crazy this year for all the lovely ones!
Everyone will say they have the best mother in the world! But, honestly, I have the greatest mother in the world....no, UNIVERSE!!!! My Dad was in town this weekend, and he brought me a little goodie from my Mum. She has such great taste and always knows what I'd want/need (Mother's instinct I guess). Well, she read my mind this year when she got me this wrap skirt, made by Caribbean designer Meiling. Read the rest of this article »
I won't lie to you, I did fall for this trend. Especially around spring time when all the great colors came out and the clothes called my name from the store windows. I don't know why I fell for such a trend...maybe because I started eating more like my aL, and this pretty much covered up any love handles that started to appear. But recently, I have really taken a look in my closet, and realized every dress I have in this style has to go! Why?
Have you ever taken a look, and realized that regular sized women wear almost everything over-sized, but pregnant women wear fitted clothing??? Something isn't right about that. When did the switch happen? I go and try on some of these dresses now, and personally I feel like an oompa loompa. Not only that, I know some people have given up their seat on the train because they think a lady is pregnant, when really, she is just wearing a trapeze dress. It doesn't give any shape to the body, everyone looks like a big box with two sticks at the bottom, and personally, kids aren't in my plan right now...so the maternity....oops sorry...I mean trapeze style clothing can go. Not to mention I have been looking for another good wool coat...and everything I've seen so far, will fit me plus 3. It's not attractive.
So unless you are a celebrity trying to hide your bump from the paparazzi, let's just leave the trapeze where it belongs. At the circus.
What replaces this trend?? The shift dress/empire waist dress. If you have trapeze dresses you don't want to give up...just add a cool belt!
